Wonky veg and bread subscription service Earth & Wheat is giving its customers the chance to win a year’s supply of tea with its latest boxes.

The supplier has teamed up with award-winning indie tea brand Bird & Blend Tea Co. for the giveaway.

Thousands of branded envelopes containing two free Bird & Blend flavours, Spiced Pumpkin Pie Tea and Chocolate Digestives Tea, are being dropped in all Earth & Wheat boxes from 14 October.

Customers can also enter a competition to win a 12-month supply of Bird & Blend Tea by scanning the QR code on the envelope.

The partnership is the latest sampling offer from Earth & Wheat as it looks to work with more sustainable food and drink retail brands and spread its mission to reduce food waste and protect the planet.

Bird & Blend was founded in 2013 by Mike Turner and Krisi Smith and offers over 100 flavours of tea, available loose or in tea bags, as well as the largest range of matcha flavours in the UK.

The company uses 100 per cent plastic-free, natural, and compostable tea bags and the packaging is plastic-free, recyclable, or biodegradable.

In 2022, the business was certified as a B Corp, meaning it has been independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.

Earth & Wheat founder James Eid said: “Bird & Blend have always made sustainability a top priority and the company is committed to using its business as a force for good. Bird & Blend are already carbon neutral and are working towards net-zero emissions.”

Founded by Eid in 2021, Earth & Wheat rescues wonky bread from bakeries that would otherwise have been binned due to strict retailer regulations.

The brand also includes fresh vegetables in special combination boxes and has so far rescued 600 tonnes of food, as well as donating over 300,000 meals to food charities.
