Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier was not known for healthy eating during his days as a player but the charismatic former footballer appears to have embraced a healthier diet, becoming the first customer of a new organic food delivery service.
The former striker, who confessed to eating unhealthy food like fish and chips the night before matches, was full of praise for the new box scheme, saying “you can never underestimate the importance of good nutrition”.
The Nutritional Organic box scheme, aimed at customers who may not have time for healthy food shopping, has been launched with the mission of “bringing the nutritional benefit of organic food to the public’s doorstep”.
Its boxes and hampers feature a wide range of organic foods, including meats, vegetables, fruits and nuts. Customers can also order bespoke packages depending on their health goals.
Commenting on his first delivery, Le Tissier said: “I’d like to firstly thank Nutritional Organic for the food they sent us, and secondly for how much we enjoyed the ingredients that went into my wife’s cooking over the last week.
“I’m pretty sure my wife will be ordering on a regular basis in the future.”
He added: “You can never underestimate the importance of good nutrition, regardless of how old you are or whatever your job is – shame they weren’t around 25 years ago! But it’s especially important for the development of young children.
“It’s great to see Nutritional Organic making eating delicious organic food easier than ever.”
Visitors to Nutritional Organic’s website are invited to fill out an online questionnaire outlining their health goals, whether it be improving their sporting performance or simply eating healthily.
Customers can also specify which parts of their body they want their diet to nourish, and can pick from food that benefits various aspects of their health, such as their heart and brain function, immune system or mental health.
Customers that place repeat orders with Nutritional Organic build up loyalty ‘Nuttie Points’, granting them money off their shopping bill, and customers that order weekly get double points for further savings.
Nutritional Organic was formed by the Bailey family after two family members were sidelined with long-term illnesses related to poor nutrition. The cause was their 'fast-paced, corporate lifestyle and essentially eating whatever was most convenient', the company said.
