The Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), will hold two seminars in September to outline discuss ways for the food industry to play its part in reducing food waste.
WRAP research indicates that 1.4 million tonnes of fruit and vegetables are thrown away by UK consumers each year, more than 20 per cent of the country’s food waste mountain.
The seminars will be held in London (September 18) and Leeds (September 25) to share WRAP findings, and analyse the food-industry approach to reducing food waste. Presentations will cover improved communication, food processing, product and packaging innovation, and changes to the retail environment. Workshops will then cover the opportunities and barriers to reduce consumer food waste, and outline future priorities.
