With all UK supermarkets now signed up to the government's Courtauld Commitment to reduce the nation's level of food waste, one technology firm has launched a waste management software system for the fresh produce sector.
Lichfield-based Systems Intergration has launched Integreater, which features a range of solutions including stock control, the tracking of dry goods and packaging waste, as well as yield management options.
Managing director Rob Stephens says that reducing waste can be costly and says that the software aims to help growers and producers comply with waste leglisation in a cost-efficient way.
He explained: “Legislation and retailer requirements for packaging waste are extensive. Data is often required within short time frames and unfortunately for their suppliers, the manual collection of paper records can be time consuming and susceptible to error.”
“To resolve this problem, Integreater automatically collects, analyses and distributes all of the required information. This allows fresh produce businesses to save time and money, as well as increase accuracy”.
