The campaign to boost UK children’s veg consumption has hired Rachel Nunns to its schools team and Alex Tyrie as campaign director
Veg Power, the not-for-profit alliance increasing the UK’s vegetable consumption, has started the year by expanding its core team to include two new recruits to support and grow existing projects.
Rachel Nunns, a former primary school headteacher, brings a wealth of education and management experience to benefit the Veg Power’s schools team.
Meanwhile, Alex Tyrie, a digital marketing and communications expert with over 25 years of experience, joins as campaign director.
Her role will focus on leading Veg Power’s content to support parents, and developing new and existing partnerships to ensure the content reaches as many families across the UK.
Dan Parker, chief executive of Veg Power said, “Our two new recruits are exciting new additions to our core team. Both Rachel and Alex bring mountains of valuable skills and experience that will have a tremendous impact on our work and help Veg Power to continue to increase the UK’s veg consumption.”
Veg Power currently runs two highly effective campaigns within primary schools.
The multi award winning Eat Them to Defeat Them campaign which changes children’s perceptions about vegetables and encourages them to give veg a try.
Now in its seventh year, 1.7m kids from over 5,000 primary and special schools have benefited from the schools’ programme.
In addition, Veg Power runs Growing to Love, a tomato growing project that supports children’s learning about food, its origins and growth, while also encouraging vegetable acceptance.
Last year it reached 21,000 children from 375 primary schools across the UK.
