The New Bramley Classic competition has been launched with top chef Mark Hix teaming up with goodtoknow.co.uk.

It challenges the public to invent a new Bramley ‘classic’ dish as part of a high profile new campaign.

Hix launched the campaign this month with a series of radio interviews and demonstrated how to cook some of his own favourite Bramley dishes in a sequence of videos.

These were streamed on both bramleyapples.co.uk and goodtoknow.co.uk and are designed to inspire Bramley lovers to upload their own creations to rival the traditional dishes.

Bramley fans are also encouraged to share their ideas through the Bramley Facebook group and the campaign has been promoted through national press and magazines.Goodtoknow.co.uk reaches over 900,000 users each month.

Hix said: “As a nation we are incredibly inventive in the kitchen and I’m confident that someone out there is going to come up with a new Bramley classic, worthy of sitting alongside the pie and the crumble.”

Hix will judge the entries and the winner will be revealed to coincide with Bramley Apple Week (6 - 13 February 2011).

Adrian Barlow, Bramley Campaign chairman said: “Mark is an award-winning restaurateur and his credibility and creativity will add a new dimension to this exciting campaign. We will be reaching millions of consumers and creating a real buzz about Bramley”.
