US-grown Meyer Lemons have arrived on Tesco’s shelves this week supplied by citrus specialist MMUK.
The Meyer is renowned for a unique deep yellow colouring and clear skin finish, and has been described as a cross between a lemon and a mandarin.
Tesco citrus commercial manager, Nicola Whitehead said the lemon has been introduced via the relaunched Finest brand.
“The Meyer Lemon is the perfect demonstration of Tesco bringing the best fresh products from around the world to the retail fixture,” she said.
Recently championed by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, the Meyer Lemon is slightly less bitter than other varieties, making it suitable for juices, dressings and deserts.
Meyer Lemons are available throughout December to April, and are sold at £1.85 for a pack of four.
