Tesco launches Scottish pointers

Tesco has launched a new campaign to help customers locate Scottish products in stores throughout the country with a new range of in-store signage.

Signage designed to inform customers about the household names and small speciality producers who supply Scottish stores with over 1,500 products will be on shelf barkers as part of the ‘Enjoy the taste of…’ campaign.

The shelf edge signage will highlight the location of the producer on a map of Scotland to help make the products from local producers easily identifiable to customers.

The ‘Enjoy the taste of…’ campaign is a national initiative featuring in stores throughout the UK highlighting local and regional food and drink producers featured on Tesco shelves. The launch of the new signage is in line with Tesco’s aim to sell £1 billion of local and regional lines by 2011.

Lynne Roxburgh, regional marketing manager for Tesco in Scotland, said: “We recognise the importance of buying locally to ensure freshness and quality and we’re proud to work together with local communities and regional suppliers to bring customers a wide range of quality Scottish products. Customers may be surprised to find out how many of the groceries in their basket are made just up the road.

“We hope that this initiative will not only increase awareness about the wide range of quality Scottish food and drink available in our stores but will encourage shoppers to support Scottish producers.”
