Competition is heating up for the Tesco Innovation Award at this year’s World Fruit & Vegetable Show.

Open to all exhibitors taking part in this annual international trade exhibition, the award will be judged by Edward Palmer, Tesco fresh produce category technical manager, and a team of Tesco senior produce managers.

Palmer said: “The greatest influence on our choice of winner for the award will be the product or idea which has demonstrated that it has been developed and driven by the end customer’s requirement, whether that is packaging developments which bring an improvement to our customers’ environment, an increase in the pack life, or freshness of our produce, improvement in the intrinsic eating quality of a product, or the creation of cost or time saving, within the store or business operation as a whole.”

Judging will take place prior to the award ceremony, which will be held on Wednesday 22 October at 10am within the exhibition hall.

The award is open to all sectors of the fruit and vegetable industry, from production and packing to transportation and IT.

This year, the World Fruit & Vegetable Show will be held at ExCeL in London on October 21-22.
