The Sustain Lincolnshire environmental project has developed Ten Quick Wins - a checklist of energy-saving, streamlining ideas for food business in Lincolnshire to save money.

Sustain Lincolnshire’s energy consultant Sam Jones’s suggestions highlight areas where improvements could be possible with relatively little effort and quick pay back times. “In general, these actions would represent the first steps in reducing environmental impact and further improvement will be possible through the development and implementation of a more comprehensive environmental management plan,” he said.

The 10-point plan features tips on reducing energy consumption in air compression and refrigeration, segregating waste, redesigning packaging and avoiding heat-shrinking, reducing water use, back-loading and working with the whole supply chain collaboratively.

Sustain Lincolnshire offers free support to help small and medium sized businesses introduce environment management systems.
