Dutch salad specialist Quality Produce International has made a major investment in solar panels.
The firm has installed some 420 solar panels at its facility in De Lier in the Netherlands, an area near the coast which receives the most sun of anywhere in the country.
The panels are equipped with improved solar cells which are darker, therefore reflecting less light and turning more into energy. The expected yearly efficiency is 95 per cent, according to the company, with an expected production of 97,755 kilowatt hours.
The installation is part of an ongoing plan by the company to boost its sustainable energy usage.
