SoilPoint Humic Co has announced a three-way partnership with Cornish Mutual Assurance and Terrafarmer Agriculture Co.

The partnership means that SoilPoint’s Soil Booster – which is described as a natural, humic-based soil conditioner that can help farmers boost yields by up to 30 per cent or more – will be trialled on five farms, covered by Cornish Mutual, in the south west of England.

At the end of the trial, the parties will review the results and discuss a commercial arrangement to distribute the product more widely to Cornish Mutual’s farming member base in the region.

Cornish Mutual is an insurance provider that specialises in farming insurance, while Terrafarmer is a specialist in soil health and regenerative farming solutions.

SoilPoint’s Soil Booster is approved by the Soil Association and is certified for use in organic and conventional farming. Trials done in other countries have shown it can repair damaged topsoil, replacing or considerably reducing the need for expensive, applied synthetic fertilisers, the company said.

Farmers benefit from increased soil organic matter, higher yields, improved soil structure, increased water retention and greater carbon sequestration, it added.

Alan Forrester, CEO at SoilPoint UK, said: “The trial gives SoilPoint a flying start to its entry into the UK farming market. Cornish Mutual and Terrafarmer have a deep understanding of the science of soil health and the needs of British farmers.

“This endorsement of SoilPoint’s Soil Booster is encouraging, and we look forward to working with farms across the UK to help them increase yields and reduce their reliance on harmful fertilisers.”
