Slam dunk for Jaffa event

A Tesco car park in South London netted plenty of attention last week as it played host to a British Basketball event sponsored by Jaffa.

Local youngsters and youth centres visited the Tesco store in Kennington to take part in basketball skills sessions, play in competitions and meet winners of the London youth games and members of the Under 20s GB teams.

Kids had the chance to play alongside Team GB U20 players Will Neighbour and Jamell Anderson, while receiving coaching tips from former leading European basketball player Cory McGee.

Members of the senior basketball man’s team were on hand in the afternoon for a Q&A and to hand out prizes.

All the youngsters took home plenty of Jaffa-branded easy peelers as a reward for their efforts, and winners of the Jaffa Free Throw received tickets to watch the men’s team play basketball at the O2 arena, signed T-shirts and a golden ball.

A spokesman for Israeli citrus specialist MTEX UK said: “We have had a really good turnout and the kids have really enjoyed the fruit. It’s been a lot of fun.”
