Over £1 million has been spent by Alan Bartlett & Sons on the worldʼs first fully automated parsnip trimming line.
Developed in partnership with Dutch engineering firm, Feltracon, themachinery offers a series of benefits to the Chatteris-based root vegetable specialist -notably, increased output capacity andan improved cut of parsnip to enhance in-store presentation.
The project has been in development for over two years, and has seen AlanBartlett and Sons fund a seven-figure sum of costs to ensure its successful integrationinto the market.

The idea for the trimming line follows internal project and analysis workundertaken by the business, focused on increased productivity coupled withreduced labour costs.
To further enhance the operationʼs quality output, investment has also beenmade in new Wyma washers.
The automated trimming line is expected to be running at full capacity withinthe next few weeks.
