Pink Lady has picked up aHealthyFood GuideBest of Health Award in the fruit snacks category, with the brand identifying snacking as a “huge area of potential growth”.
The UK’s largest fresh produce label has been focusing its marketing efforts on developing a snacking message, with its latest advertising campaign featuring the slogan 'Get Your Snack On'.
Judges in the awards' Snacks (Fruit Solution) category recognised Pink Lady apples for their “portability and naturally-formed portion, as well as their consistent sweet taste, crunchy texture and exceptional quality”, the apple brand reported.
Now in its fifth year, the Healthy Food Guide Awards select winning products from across the food and drinks sector based on their nutritional credentials, flavour and texture.
Lynn Shaw, marketing manager for Pink Lady, said: “This is the first year we have entered theHealthy Food GuideBest of Health Awards and we are delighted that our iconic apple has been recognised as the winner of the snacking category.
“We identified snacking as a huge area of potential growth for 2018 and have used the snacking message via our PR and digital communications to secure a stronger presence in this area of the market. Sales have continued to grow which shows our integrated campaign has really resonated with our core customers and we look forward to continued growth.”
She added: ”At the start of this year, Public Health England launched its initiative advising that children eat no more than two 100 calorie snacks a day, in a bid to combat sugar intake and child obesity. Our apples align really well with this advice, offering a natural, low-calorie option for adults and children alike.”
