A research team at Newcastle University is launching a website that collates the net zero reporting data of major food businesses around the globe.

According to the Global Agri-food Supply Chains team at the university’s Centre for Rural Economy, this is the first publicly accessible data web page of its kind solely dedicated to agrifood corporations.

The first phase of the project launches on 7 April and will involve over 150 businesses.

Albert Boaitey, who lectures in global agri-food supply chains at Newcastle University, is leading the project. He told FPJ: “Agrifood corporations have a critical role to play in reducing emissions from food value chains and achieving net zero goals.

“Easily accessible information on corporate targets, standards and reporting initiatives is fundamental to enhancing key stakeholder awareness, trust and transparency.

“This important knowledge is often stored in inaccessible databases and corporate reports or behind paywalls. Our new net zero tracker will help to change that.”
