Mr Pippy at Tesco Brookfield this week

The Mr Pippy tour hit the road again last week to take British apples to consumers up and down the land.

Back by popular demand for its second year on the road, the UK Tour 2006, funded by Worldwide Fruit, kicked off on Saturday, October 21 - National Apple Day - with a whistle-stop round of radio stations in London. BBC Radio 1, 2, 4 and Five got a visit, as did Virgin, Capital and Heart and, once the front desks were bribed with a tray of English Cox, studio access was a formality at all of them.

On Monday, the Mr Pippy van, ably piloted by Arbor’s Crispin and Dorian, stopped off at Marks & Spencer’s head office before parking in a packed-out Covent Garden for the lunch-time rush, where Worldwide Fruit’s Robert Balicki handed out apples to the adoring public.

Tesco HQ in Cheshunt and its neighbouring Brookfield store (pictured), were visited by the Pippy crew on Tuesday.

And the tour finished up with visits to Bristol, Bath and Manchester on Wednesday and Thursday, where Cox apples were on the menu once again.
