Matthews takes to Re:fresh podium

The head of catering for the London 2012 Olympics is the latest big name speaker to sign up for this year’s Re:fresh conference on 19 May.

Jan Matthews, who is head of catering, cleaning and waste for games delivery authority LOCOG and has responsibility for implementing the London 2012 food strategy, will outline opportunities for fresh produce suppliers ahead of next summer’s sporting showpiece.

She will speak during a session examining market opportunities that will also include Peter Durose, MD of Fresh Approach and former Tesco head of produce.

Earlier in the day, DEFRA minister Jim Paice will be leading the discussions. Two panel debates featuring the speakers of the day will produce lively debate and an interactive discussion.

Nigel Jenney, chief executive of the Fresh Produce Consortium, said: “We’ve listened to your views, and this is your conference. This year we are launching a new interactive industry-focused programme, with a great line up of the biggest characters in the industry. A variety of radical views will set the scene for lively panel debates. We want you, the audience, to challenge our speakers, so don’t stay away and miss out.”
