Spalding-based Katopé - Malet Azoulay has become a member of the Mango Association.

“We’re delighted to have Katopé - Malet Azoulay on board,” said association chairman Chris Abram of Minor Weir & Willis. “They join us at a really exciting time and will be part of Mad4Mango Week 2005.”

The association promotes sales of mangoes in the UK by encouraging trial and repeat purchase. Sales soared in 2004 up 12.2 per cent on 2003 to £33.2 million. And according to TNS data, consumer penetration also rose - up 7.3 per cent on 2003. These results are against a background of a static fruit market.

“The Mango Association has campaigned to increase awareness of the fruit for the past three years,” said Abram. “The sales figures reflect these efforts but by swelling support with new members we hope to achieve continued market growth.”

Katopé - Malet Azoulay is looking forward to the opportunities its new membership will bring.

“As growers in Africa and distributors world-wide, we look forward to joining the Mango Association and relish the challenge of raising public awareness and in turn increasing overall consumption,” said the company’s Geoff White. “We welcome the opportunity to share with our fellow professionals our knowledge and experience.”

The association hopes to announce an exciting new facet to its promotional efforts as it looks to forge links with the performing arts in advance of Mad4Mango Week in the second week of September 2005.
