The London International Gallery of Children’s Art (LIGCA) has launched an exhibition of collages with the theme of Spain, healthy eating and fresh fruit and veg by British primary schools.

The lively collages were created by classes from around the UK as part of a nationwide initiative by Foods from Spain to promote fresh fruit and vegetables to school children, the National Primary Schools Competition.

The exhibition features the best from the more than 500 entries sent by schools, focusing on themes that include farming, the 5-A-DAY initiative and Spanish culture.

Director of Foods from Spain, María José Sevilla, said: “We are really pleased to be linking up with LICGA once again this year, and during January, February and March to showcase the best entries from our National Primary Schools Competition.

“During the two years we have run this initiative, it has proved that art is the perfect subject with which to stimulate children’s interest in Spanish language and culture, and the provenance of their food.”

It is the second exhibition at LIGCA’s new premises at Waterlow Park Centre, in Highgate.
