The Seasonal Berries campaign, run by PR company Sputnik Communications, hosted a winter berry cookery masterclass and health event last month for consumer journalists, with the aim of gaining publicity for mainly blueberries and blackberries from Chile, Uruguay and Argentina.

The event took place at London’s cookery school L’Atelier des Chefs with TV chef and presenter of Channel 4’s Cook Yourself Thin, Gizzi Erskine.

Erskine demonstrated low-fat berry recipes and guided journalists through the winter berry masterclass.

This was followed by a short talk from nutritionist Juliette Kellow about the health benefits of eating blueberries and blackberries during the winter.

Consumer journalists and food writers were told that blackberries and blueberries are readily available all year round, with blackberries from Mexico up until March and blueberries from Chile, Uruguay and Argentina available until February.
