London Underground passengers have placed more than 10,000 orders for online groceries in the first 10 months since Transport For London (TfL) introduced click and collect services.
The milestone - reported by the Evening Standard - has been reached as Ocado announced that it would begin offering a click and collect service at four tube stations from next week (w/c 15 September), and Waitrose is to become the first UK grocery retailer to install refrigerated lockers in three tube station car parks so passengers can collect their orders on their way home.
Tesco, meanwhile, the largest online supermarket operating alongside London Underground station, is to offer click and collect at eight more stations, taking its total to 14.
Some 42 stations on the tube network now offer click and collect services, with Asda and Sainsbury also signed up.
