A food education project is looking for produce firms to sponsor a product category and shape healthy eating content aimed at children.
Table of Delights is a website set up by food writer Claire Thomson, along with Michelin-starred chef Matt Williamson, actor and director Katy Carmichael, and performer and writer Tristan Sturrock.
The team have begun with sponsorship from dairy brand Yeo Valley, which helped provide the first series of content, ranging from recipes, school lesson plans, audio and video entertainment.
A pitch for a TV series in the style of Horrible Histories is with three production companies, Thomson said, with plans in the pipeline for a Youtube channel and a book series.
“We are aiming to be a food hub for children, with food education provided Trojan horse-style through entertainment,” she said, adding that content will be provided through downloadable plans, crazy songs, and games.
As well as Yeo Valley, Table of Delights has partnered with Pukka Tea who have helped develop content around mint. “Pukka specifically wanted us to focus on getting kids out into the garden and growing mint,” continued Thomson. “We’re looking for other brands or suppliers to get in touch, and we’re open to collaborating on content.
“We’re not too worthy – we’re open to all food that you’d want children to eat. We would cover lemons, sausages, eggs, anything that you can cook with,” she added.
