A pop up bistro dedicated to Jersey Royals served cones of the seasonal favourite to consumers in London’s Covent Garden this weekend.
Dubbed ‘Just Jerseys’, the initiative was fronted by chef Jimmy Doherty and took place in a bistro café venue in the busy central London shopping district.
Running over the 22 and 23 April, shoppers could buy a £3 cone of Jersey Royals served with Jersey butter, Jersey sea salt and mint.
The event was promoted under the hashtag #justjerseys across social media, with people encouraged to share posts to win a cone of Jerseys.
Doherty was on hand to explain the unique production process, and why Jerseys carry the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) certification.
The promotion comes just ahead of May as the key sales period for Jersey Royals, where they are relatively uncontested by earlies fromCornwall, Suffolk, Ayrshire and Pembrokeshire.
