Worldwide Fruit will be pledging its support for Children with Leukaemia by handing out its Jazz branded apples at the charity’s Amazing Great Party event next week.
WWF will be supplying 6,000 Jazz apples at the event to be held in London’s Battersea Park on July 13.
It is hoped the day will give leukaemic, disabled and other seriously ill children the party of a lifetime while helping to raise urgently needed money for the fight against leukaemia.
The Amazing Great Party has previously attracted support from celebrities, ranging from musician Sir Paul McCartney and actress Joanna Lumley to TV presenting duo Ant and Dec.
The line-up for this year has not yet been confirmed but organisers are hopeful that some high-profile figures will be keen to appear on the big day.
Gary Harrison, commercial manager for Worldwide Fruit in Spalding said, “Jazz apples are committed to promoting health and wellbeing and are delighted to have this opportunity to support Children with Leukaemia.
“The Amazing Great Party is not only a fantastically fun event to be involved with but also helps raise money for an incredibly important issue that is close to the hearts of many people.”
Children with Leukaemia is the national charity dedicated to the research and treatment of childhood leukaemia and to the welfare of leukaemic children and their families.
It was pioneered by the parents of Paul O’Gorman who died of the disease in 1987 aged 14. The family then lost Jean’s sister nine months later to a cancer-related illness.
Moved by the tragedy, Diana, Princess of Wales, officially inaugurated the charity in 1988 and remained one of its committed advocates until she died.
