The celebrity chef joins panel to judge contestants aged 17 and under for new ‘Jamie Oliver Youth Prize’

Celebrity chef and child health campaigner, Jamie Oliver, has been announced as the latest name joining the World Food Photography Awards’ (WFPA) esteemed judging panel for the 2025 competition.

Oliver will be joined by his creative director, James Verity, and legendary food photographer, David Loftus, to judge the ‘Young’ category, which celebrates the photographic talents of those aged 17 or younger, now to be called the ‘Jamie Oliver Youth Prize’.

The World Food Photography Awards, sponsored by broccoli brand Tenderstem Bimi Broccolini, celebrates the very best in food photography from around the world.

The competition invites amateur and professional photographers alike to showcase their technical prowess and creativity, whether told through landscape, portrait, travel, wedding, photojournalistic or any other style of photography.

With over 25 categories, the competition recognises that food touches lives in a diversity of ways – from growing, harvesting and cooking, to eating, celebrating and surviving. There is a top prize of £5,000 to be won, and all finalist images will be exhibited at the prestigious Mall Galleries, London in May 2025.

“Tenderstem Bimi Broccolini is absolutely thrilled to have Jamie Oliver on board as a judge for the 2025 World Food Photography Awards,” says Dave Samuels, Global Brand Director.

“Jamie has long been a passionate advocate for healthy eating, especially when it comes to empowering young people to make better food choices. His commitment to inspiring healthier generations aligns perfectly with the values we champion at Tenderstem Bimi Broccolini.

He added: ”We are excited to see how Jamie’s unique perspective will shape the ‘Young’ category, celebrating the next wave of photographic talent and helping to amplify the voices of young people using food as a medium for creativity and change.”

This year’s global judging panel also includes: Claire Reichenbach, CEO The James Beard Foundation; Tom Athron, CEO Fortnum & Mason; Max La Manna, award winning digital creator; Rein Skullerud, senior photographer & photo editor at World Food Programme; and Magou, The Lazy Makati, chef and cookbook author.
