Potato supplier Greenvale has won an award to recognise “outstanding contribution” to the border region between the north of England and Scotland.

Won by the company’s Duns site, the Eastern Borders Development Award (EBDA) was presented after judges were impressed by Greenvale’s “ongoing commitment” as a major employer in the region.

Operations Manager Stephen Simm said the company was “honoured” to receive the award. “What we do in the course of daily business we take for granted but it is truly gratifying and pleasing to have this recognised in the wider local community,' he said.

Greenvale have invested over £2 million in the Craigswalls site in a potato packing facility with sustainable initiatives including water recycling, solar panels and self-propelled harvesters.

“Greenvale will continue to develop and adopt best practice in all areas of our operation which will see the future of the Greenvale Company secured for many years to come in the Eastern Borders,” added Simm.
