Greenvale has helped Tesco raise nearly £76k for charity event Race For Life - the largest single amount ever raised by a fresh produce firm for the race, the potato giant claims.

A cheque for £75,578.83was presented to Cancer Research UK at Tesco’s Cheshunt Extra store after using donations raised through sales of Tesco’s Finest Venezia ‘Race for Life’ promotional packs.

Greenvale and Tesco joined forces to donate 2p from each of the 3.7 million packs of Tesco Finest Venezia Salad Potatoes sold between July 2014 and January 2015.

Receiving the cheque on behalf of Cancer Research, Shervin Behzadi, sponsorship manager, said: 'Venezia potato promotional packs have been a huge success and we're delighted by the total of £75,578.83 total that will go towards our life saving research. We're already extremely excited to see what we can achieve together next year.'

Speaking on behalf of Greenvale, John Woolcott, Tesco account director, said: ”We would like to thank Tesco and Tesco customers for supporting this initiative by purchasing Venezia potatoes. Their support of Cancer Research UK has been a real positive for the consumer and has undoubtedly added an extra incentive for purchase.'
