Dutch supplier The Greenery has published a new sustainability report Healthy is More.

The report focuses on the achievements of The Greenery and its growers in the area of corporate social responsibility over the past year in relation to the group’s own sustainability policy.

It follows Global Reporting Initiative guidelines and demonstrates how The Greenery has been trying to reduce the impact of its operations on the environment.

As well as reduction in carbon-dioxide emissions, the organisation reduced its water consumption by nine per cent year-on-year in 2008 and its electricity usage by seven per cent over the same period.

The report also shows that efficiency measures introduced in logistics at the group’s own transport buisness Dijco have reduced fuel consumption and that its food-chain partnership projects globally are leading to more sustainable use of crop protection agents.

In addition, efficiency measures in logistics and at Dijco, The Greenery’s transport company, resulted in a substantial reduction in fuel consumption. Also, ‘Food Chain Partnership’ projects were initiated worldwide to enhance the sustainability of crop protection agents.
