Over 70,000 young people and parents answered the call of Irish world boxing champion Kellie Harrington and track and field Olympian David Gillick by tuning in to the pair’s 12-week online Fyffes Fit Squad programme, the banana brand has announced.
Launched in March, the project was aimed at encouraging children and families to adopt a healthier and more active lifestyle, and it was created so that teachers and parents could also participate.
The series of interactive videos saw Harrington and Gillick demonstrate new workout routines while giving advice on overall wellbeing and healthy eating.
In 2020 the Fyffes Fit Squad went online when schools were forced to close. With hundreds now awaiting visits from Fyffes, the banana brand said it is looking forward to resuming live sessions in schools “once it is deemed safe to do so”.
Parents and children looking to keep active over the summer can still follow the fitness videos on theFyffes Fit Squad website.
