The Freight Transport Association has published new editions for 2009 of its two long-running publications, the Yearbook of Road Transport Law and the Drivers’ Handbook.

The 47th edition of the Yearbook of Road Transport Law has been written and compiled by FTA’s team of transport legislation experts and provides essential guidance to help ensure legal compliance by commercial vehicle operators.

The new publication includes all the latest information on such subjects as the Driver CPC, ADR 2009 changes, the increase in fees for removing and corporate manslaughter. One free Yearbook is delivered to every FTA member during January.

To help HGV drivers carry out their job safely, legally and professionally, FTA has published a new edition of its Drivers’ Handbook, containing information ahead of the introduction of the Driver CPC and graduated fixed penalties, plus revised guidance on use of mobile phones and in-cab technology to avoid distraction, and amended information on parking, wheel clamping and PCNs.

It also includes a new pull-out guide to carrying out a walk-around vehicle road safety check.

The FTA also offer their Van Drivers’ Handbook, a guide covering topics such as legal requirements, defensive driving,,drivers’ hours and records, driving licences and offences and speed limits.
