Freshfel Europe has launched its revamped Fresh Quality Guide website, containing an overview of the legislative requirements for marketing fresh produce on the European market.
According to Freshfel, the European fresh produce association, the online guide is built on the group's expertise and experience and is aimed at helping the industry provide consumers with fresh fruit and vegetables that meet the highest standards.
The revamped Fresh Quality Guide offers a user-friendly source of all general legislative requirements covering quality standards, the food safety dossier and topics related to labelling and nutrition, as well as hygiene requirements and product packaging, covering all fresh produce categories.
"Launched in 2004, the Fresh Quality Guide has proven to be highly valuable for everybody in the fresh produce business dealing with these legislative requirements," said Frédéric Rosseneu, director for quality and sustainability at Freshfel Europe.
"The revamped website continues to offer all basic information free of charge to contribute to the efforts of the sector to harmoniously interpret and adhere to all the legislative, sometimes complex, requirements," he added. "However, only Freshfel members will be able to go deeper into the topics with additional information and documents through accessing the members-only area and discover the complete added value of this site."
Freshfel sees the Fresh Quality Guide as another major contribution to assist all operators in the chain in providing to consumers products with the highest possible quality and safety, as well as good taste and texture.
"I am pleased that Freshfel is today taking this well-established initiative a step further in an important effort to continuously assist and benefit the sector as a whole, but also especially all Freshfel members," noted Andreas Brügger, chairman of Freshfel's food safety and quality working group.
