Department of Transport programme Freight Best Practice has published a new free case study focusing on the UK’s number one retailer. Tesco Sets the Pace on Low Carbon and Efficiency highlights the measures taken by the retailer in improving efficiency and reducing carbon emissions form its distribution operation.

The case study looks at how Tesco managed to reduce its carbon footprint in 2007 by 10.2 per cent and finds that it is on target to reach its goal of a 50 per cent reduction in two years’ time.

Freight Best Practice has copies available free of charge from www.freightbestpractice.org.uk which show how it is possible to make reductions using existing assets, alternatives to road and reducing food miles.
