Trust Gordon Brown to steal my thunder. Our now ex-PM has rather selfishly overshadowed my departure from Lockwood Press this week - although from what I hear, his decision to quit Number 10 was actually heavily influenced by the fact that I am leaving the helm here at FPJ.

It’s been an absolute pleasure editing the journal and a privilege to have worked on the inside of one of the most dynamic and interesting sectors of the food industry.

There is no question that fresh produce is an exciting and fast-paced business that over the last two years has stared down the barrel of some turbulent times. Almost as soon as I took over the editorship of FPJ, the UK was plunged deep into recession - although I must stress that this is purely coincidence. It is testament to this industry and its people that it came out fighting and has lived to tell the tale.

I have truly enjoyed getting to know you all and would like to thank everyone for their support over the last couple of years. I also wish my successor all the very best in this great job.

I am hugely excited about the opportunities open to me in my new role at Richmond Towers Communications, as I take the leap of faith that so many journalists have before me and move over to the dark side - or PR, as it’s more commonly known.

As I am staying in the food industry, I am sure many of our paths will cross again in the future - I certainly hope so, anyway. See you soon.
