Vegetable producer Alan Bartlett and Sons has welcomed in the first crop of this season’s Bartlett’s Bushytops carrots.
Sales of the carrot variety, which is sold exclusively through UK based Tesco supermarkets, have grown by over 90 per cent since the variety’s launch 15 months ago.
“The success has been astounding with over 1.6 million bunches sold in the past year alone – which has contributed greatly to the categories market share out performance,' said Toby Bartlett, commercial manager of Alan Bartlett’s and Sons.
Bartlett says the brand will be enhanced further with improvements that have been made to the carrot’s harvesting techniques.
He explained: “This season will see the introduction of a bespoke vehicle that has been specially designed to pick, wash and pack in the field within seconds for delivery direct to Tesco; offering a truly fresh experience.'
