The next phase of the Food Dudes scheme is focusing on linking healthy eating with exercise.

The much-vaunted initiative, which studies have shown helps build long-term consumption of fresh produce among young children, will feature Dynamic Dudes to help stress the importance of exercise in a healthy lifestyle.

According to founder Professor Fergus Lowe, who was speaking at the London Produce Show, Dynamic Dudes will take a similar approach to Food Dudes, with special videos created featuring the cartoon heroes taking part in sports such as football, dancing and karate.

The teaching moves from the classroom to the playground, where Food Dudes' reward scheme will be adopted in encouraging kids to take part in physical activity.

Special Food Dudes-branded sports equipment will also be available to encourage children to take part in exercise, whether it be swimming, tennis or even active gaming.

Food Dudes has stepped up its activity over the past year, with the school lunch hall a particular focus of attention. Food Dudes branding and special menus are all part of the Dining Room Experience, aimed at reinforcing the message that fruit and vegetables are fun and tasty.

Other developments include the first Food Dudes project in London, as well as a rollout of the initiative in various schools in Scotland and Wales.
