Waitrose's Duchy Organic brand generated over £3.2m for charity through the sale of products in the year to March 2018, the supermarket has revealed.
The brand, which was originally founded by the Prince of Wales, has now donated a total of £23m since it was set up in 2009. Its range includes over 300 products, from fresh fruit and vegetables to beer and bacon, and is also exported to over 30 countries.
The Duchy brand was founded on the principles of Good Food, Good Farming and Good Causes, and makes donations to causes including the Duchy FutureFarming Programme, which helps farmers develop more sustainable farming practices, and The Prince's Countryside Fund, which works to secure a brighter future for those who live and work in the British countryside.
Rob Collins, managing director of Waitrose & Partners, said: 'The Waitrose Duchy Organic brand has had another great year at Waitrose & Partners and we are delighted that sales have generated a record amount for charitable causes.'
Last year, for the Prince's 70th birthday, Waitrose offered a gift of seven packaging pledges for the Waitrose Duchy Organic range, to reflect his seven decades and to honour his leadership on sustainability, with all pledges focused on reducing waste and plastic.
