With an increasing public awareness of the importance of eating more fruit and vegetables every day, as a producer and 5 A DAY partner, Dole is keen to encourage consumers to eat more fresh produce and reach their recommended daily allowance.
Dole, which displays the Department of Health’s 5 A DAY Just Eat More (fruit and veg) logo on two of its Fruit in Juice pots, is now providing fruit in convenient packaging to make it easier for adults and children to achieve this.
Dole Packaged Foods Europe believes that, as well as encouraging consumers to increase their fruit and veg intake, its support of the 5 A DAY programme will help to broaden the appeal of the Fruit in Juice range and strengthen loyalty in their existing consumer base.
The company’s commitment to health and nutrition has been part of the brand ethos for more than 150 years; now by actively supporting the government programme, Dole aims to strengthen this commitment and increase its communication to its customers about the health benefits of eating a variety of at least five portions of fruit and veg a day.
In addition, as part of Dole’s worldwide commitment to healthy eating, the Dole Nutrition Institute aims to provide research and education regarding the potential of a healthy diet to promote health and prevent disease.
Dole’s health messages and support of 5 A DAY are most evident in the fresh fruit market, but is also relevant to its packaged products, which combine pieces of real fruit in fruit juices. We believe that our involvement with the 5 A DAY programme gives parents confidence and reassurance that Dole’s brand and its products are healthy options and can help them and their families to factor into their diets the right amount of produce in simple ways.
Two of Dole’s Fruit in Juice pots have been given the 5 A DAY logo - Pineapple in Juice and Tropical Fruit in Juice, which are available in two ready-to-eat formats.
The Fruit in Juice pots are being promoted as a healthier alternative to the unhealthy snacks that many children have in their packed lunches. To this end, the 5 A DAY logo is also displayed on the fruit pot page of the Dole website.
As more people are becoming aware of the value of eating a variety of different fruit and veg each day, we want more consumers to be aware of ways in which Dole is making that consumption even more convenient for parents and children. Dole’s aim is to continue raising this awareness, and show consumers that healthy eating is possible, even with the busiest lifestyle.
