A fruit and vegetable shop in north Lincolnshire has been closed after reports of a rat infestation, the Scunthorpe Telegraph has reported.
Wholesale Fruit and Veg, which trades as Fowlers 5-a-day, on Frances Street in Scunthorpe, was shut down by environmental health officers last Thursday (February 19), the paper said.
The local authority was granted an emergency prohibition order at North Lincolnshire Magistrates' Court this week and said the premises will remain closed until the problem is sorted.
A spokeswoman for North Lincolnshire Council told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: 'The council closed Scunthorpe Wholesale Fruit and Veg Ltd on Frances Street (trading as Fowlers 5-a-day) on Thursday, February 19, after an officer visited the shop in response to a complaint of a rat infestation.
'A court order has been issued requiring the premises to remain closed until we are satisfied that all the necessary improvements have been made.
'We understand that work is currently underway to rectify the problem and we will reinspect the premises to ensure that they meet the relevant food safety standards.'
