The Co-operative Food is supporting a nationwide search with High School Musical 2 Live on Stage, to find a young and exciting cast, in association with GMTV.

The tour opens at the Wimbledon Theatre in London in August before touring the UK and The Co-op will be supporting the search to find the next Troy Bolton, as played by Zac Efron, from talented 18-25-year-olds.

Broadway director Jeff Calhoun and his team will be putting young hopefuls through their paces to audition for the lead role in London on April 19 and 20, with the finalists set to perform live on GMTV in early May.

The new show, High School Musical 2 Live on Stage, hope to follow in the footsteps of the hugely popular Disney Channel movie.

The Co-operative Food, which is the sponsor of the nationwide tour, will be promoting High School Musical 2 Live on Stage across its estate of food stores around the UK. The campaign will be supported by in-store POS, cast store visits, internal marketing and a nationwide PR campaign.

Hazel Owens, campaigns manager for The Co-operative Food, said: “As the largest mutual retailer in the UK with thousands of trading outlets nationwide, we are committed to supporting the communities in which we trade. Supporting High School Musical 2 Live on Stage is a great way of engaging with these communities, and of communicating to children the benefits of trying activities that are highlighted within the show, such as cheerleading, basketball, singing and dancing.”
