A new initiative from G’s Marketing Ltd, which produces Tangy Traditional Beetroot for Tesco, is set to brighten the fresh produce shelves this weekend in the name of a good cause.

From this weekend for a limited period of 12 weeks, the product will be sold in distinctive bright pink punnets. Some 3p from every pack sold with the charity's logo will go to Cancer Research UK with a target total of £25,000 to be raised.

G’s category marketing manager Anthony Gardiner said: “The fresh beetroot market is currently worth around £38m and growing by 12 per cent year on year.

“This marketing initiative is an opportunity to break up the ‘wall’ of green salads in the fresh produce section and should help bring new shoppers into the category.”

Dan Cross, G’s account manager, said: “More people are enjoying beetroot now and this is a great opportunity to raise the product’s profile while raising money for a really worthwhile cause.”
