International fruit supplier, Capespan, is joining the environmental revolution with a new recycling solution for its base in Sheerness.

The company has recently purchased a large feed aperture Durapac CB-65 from waste and recycling provider, Compact and Bale, which it hopes will dramatically increase its waste efficiency, turning out bales double the size made by its existing vertical baler.

It says the new machine is improving the site’s overall safety by removing the build-up of empty cartons more quickly, reducing its fire risk, and will also mean less staff involvement, as it does not have to be continuously manned.

“We saved ourselves the need to employ two full-time operating personnel with our new cardboard recycling machinery,” Capespan’s Matthew Newns said.
