BanaBay bananas on sale

Birmingham-based banana brand BanaBay has been chosen by World Cancer Research Fund UK (WCRF) as an official banana supplier to help promote the importance of healthy eating in preventing cancer.

WCRF, which has the aim of ‘stopping cancer before it starts’, recognises the health enhancing and protective qualities of bananas which contain beneficial fibre, vitamins and minerals to support the immune system as well as anti-oxidants to prevent disease.

Michael Smeaton, deputy head of fundraising at WCRF, which approached BanaBay said: “Everybody loves bananas and knows how good they are for you so we chose this new brand of premium quality bananas and they agreed to help us communicate the importance of eating well to reduce the chances of developing serious illness.

“The banana is also an iconic symbol for the charity, and we will be encouraging widespread BanaBay banana consumption at a series of key events throughout the year.”

The first event BanaBay is supporting is the WCRF Informa event where fundraisers will be visiting office buildings in London, highlighting the role of diet in preventing cancer and presenting a free banana to anyone who makes a donation to the charity.
