London’s Borough Market has been voted as the top market in the capital for the second year in succession at the annual Visit London People’s Choice Award.
Borough market was deemed ‘Britain’s best food market’ and has become famous at home and abroad for its vibrant atmosphere and specialist foods.
Camilla McGibbon, chair of the Board of Trustees, said: “We are delighted again to have been voted the capital’s best market. Our local shoppers - both long-standing and new - are tremendously important to us, so this accolade from Londoners is greatly appreciated.”
Recently the Trustees of Borough held a celebration breakfast at Roast restaurant to mark the 10th anniversary of the regenerated retail market. Attended by traders, trustees, prominent chefs and friends of the market it drew together the memories, achievements and future aspirations of the trustees, traders and the local community.
The event also featured a cake mosaic drawn together to spell out happy anniversary wishes to Borough, designed and produced by Konditor & Cook.
The market’s trustees have published a new history of the market to celebrate this milestone in its history entitled ‘Borough Market SE1’.
