Albert Bartlett has been recognised for its commitment to environmental excellence at Scotland’s leading sustainable business awards.

For 14 years, the Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland Awards (VIBES) has recognised the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies in reducing their impact on the environment.

Based in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Albert Bartlett won the Mainetti-sponsored Management Award (Large Company Category), on 26 November.

The award recognises businesses whose management systems deliver continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Russell White, head of engineering and sustainability at Albert Bartlett, said: “Our customers like to know where their potatoes come from and, even better, to know that they come from an environmentally friendly company.

'At Albert Bartlett, we’re dedicated to looking after the environment, whether on the farm or at our production sites, so we are delighted to achieve recognition for the efforts of our team.'

Gillian Bruce, VIBES chair, said: “We were delighted by the standard of entries to this year’s VIBES Awards. The effort and dedication shown by Albert Bartlett can help Scotland to make strides in achieving its 2020 carbon reduction targets.

“Changes to legislation and international events will make 2014 an important year for industry in Scotland. We hope even more businesses in North Lanarkshire will follow the example set by our winners and make significant steps towards greener ways to do business.”
