This week I’d like to take the opportunity to pay tribute to two great servants of this magazine and the fresh produce industry, who for very different reasons will no longer be with us.

Firstly, I’m very sad to report that our Irish correspondent Anthony Garvey has passed away at the age of 77. I’ve known Anthony for many years and his dedication to the job made him one of the finest reporters an editor could hope to work with.

Anthony never missed deadlines, his work required virtually no editing and was always both accurate and informative. He will be sorely missed, and our condolences go to his family, including his son Anthony, who I’m happy to say will be continuing in his father’s footsteps by providing us with fresh produce news from across the Irish Sea.

Secondly, our deputy editor Anna Sbuttoni is leaving us this week after nearly six years with FPJ. With her gift for writing engaging, eye-catching copy, her superb levels of organisation and popularity in the industry, it is little surprise that her talent has been spotted and she has been offered a role at the Good Food Channel as an assistant producer.

It is a well-deserved new career path for Anna, who I have no doubt will prove a great success in the world of TV. Joining us on the features desk is Lisa Kjellsson, who I’m sure many of you will get to meet in the coming weeks and months. -
