Zespri Gold kiwifruit from Italy and France is returning to the European market.
There will be slightly less available than previous years, at 1.25 million trays, but Zespri says the size looks promising.
It also said the batch looks sweet enough to gain a high brix rating and dry matter levels at harvest mean taste and storage potential is expected to be good.
However, the UK has been left out of its tailor made promotional campaigns.
That money is being spent on Italy, Germany, Spain and the Benelux countries Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
Zespri Gold is available from May until September to October from New Zealand and November until December to January from European countries such as Italy and France.
Zespri said: "The length of the season depends on the crop. This product is now on the market since 2000 but unlike Green kiwifruit, that is available the whole year round, volumes are not sufficient to close the gap between the New Zealand and the European season.
"That is the reason why we stopped selling from NZ in week 41 and start again this week."
In South Korea, the fair trade commission has fined Zespri International 427 million won (£239,000) for trying to block sales of a cheaper Chilean kiwifruit.
It ruled Zespri displayed anti-competitive behaviour, after a complaint from Chile about Zespri's deal with two leading supermarket chains to only sell kiwifruit from new Zealand.
