Young Plants Ltd is unveiling a major new range of mid-season primroses, promising greater uniformity and quality.

The Stratford-Upon-Avon based company announced the results of extensive grower testing of the Orion series of primula acaulis.

Goldsmith’s Primula breeder Erik Smit has focused on producing a more compact plant habit for 9cm pot and 6 pack production along with very good uniformity for flowering time across all the colours in the series, the firm reported.

Its key features are compact plant habits with controlled leaf growth, requiring no growth regulator applications and uniform flowering across all the colours. Its flowering period is from mid December to mid February, dependent on potting date.

Nine separate colours and a formula mixture are available for 2007.
