Young in at Greencell as Cooksey departs

Former Barfoots of Botley boss Graham Young has been appointed managing director of fresh produce importer-supplier Greencell.

Young left his position as MD of Barfoots by mutual agreement at a board meeting on 12 January after 10 years with the company.

Greencell confirmed Young joined the business on Friday, shortly after former MD Andrew Cooksey departed the business.

Cooksey, who was in the position for 18 months, was formerly CEO of Dairy Farmers of Britain for four years, departing the farmer-owned co-operative in April 2009 after laying off up to a quarter of its staff and completing a company restructure.

He has also held the position of MD at Melton Foods for a year from January 2004 as well as heading up Humber VHB for nine years from 1994 to 2003.

Greencell employs 100 people and across three locations in the Midlands and south of England in Dartford, Spalding and the port of Sheerness.

The company declined to comment on the appointment.
