One of the industry’s most charismatic figures has left his post during a boardroom shake up at Barfoots of Botley.

Graham Young left his position as managing director by mutual agreement at a board meeting on 12 January after 10 years with the company.

At the same board meeting, operations director Julian Marks was appointed as acting managing director and two new non-executive directors were appointed.

Sudhir Dhanani, formerly a consultant for Barfoots and James Floor, formerly of World Flowers, were made non-executive directors.

In a statement seen by FPJ, Barfoots chairman Peter Barfoot said: “The board wishes to place on record its appreciation of the contribution made by Graham to the company’s commercial activities since his joining the company in early 2000.

“I know that you will all join me in welcoming [Dhanani and Floor] to the board and working with them in the future,” Barfoot said.

Based in Chichester, West Sussex, Barfoots claims to be the largest European processor and packer of fresh sweetcorn products. It also grows crops in south Hampshire and West Sussex. Its range includes asparagus, broad beans, courgettes, marrows, peas, pumpkins, sweet potatoes and squash. The company’s Spanish division, Barfoots España, is based in Almería.
